Scared of Chaka

Scared of Chaka make raunchy New Mexican garage rock that will kick the shit out of the overproduced, ego-heavy slop that dominates the airwaves today. SOC write witty and sometimes heartfelt (but never soppy) songs about broken jaws, switchblades and fish tacos. Sometimes they shout choruses over distortion and feedback. Other times they sing (not quite) sweetly over a tune that seems plucked from an old AM radio station. However they choose to do it, Scared of Chaka are overflowing with raw energy and pop hooks. Although some of the more distorted garage tunes may get old after too many listens, there is really not one bad song on Crossing with Switchblades. Definitely check the links above for some free MP3's of their songs. "Hot Dog on a Stick" sounds like something the Dead Kennedys would record if they forgot about Reagan, ate some corndogs, and watched porn for a couple of days straight.
