You know all those dudes you see listening to Death Cab, wearing tight pants, and sporting perfectly messy hair? While on the outside they may appear to be mama's boys who would freak if their Tofu Burger was on the same grill as your tri-tip, this is far from the truth. Case in point: Jordan Hirsch from Woodland Hills, CA. Jordan takes out all his pent up emo aggression in the surf, busting super tweaked inverts and stylish reverses all over Ventura County. Anyway, I typed up a few questions for him and here are the results (short, sweet, and in all caps, just the way you like it).

Dang, I just got some sick shots of you. You tweak your inverts pretty damn hard. Is there anyone's style you try to emulate or do you just kinda do your own thing?

I JUST DO MY OWN THING PRETTY MUCH, NOT REALLY INTO EMULATING ANYONE’S STYLE.

How's the bodyboarding scene down in Ventura these days? Seems like I've been seeing more and more pics of you dudes lately. Are there any up-and-comers we should be aware of?

AIGHT FIRST OF ALL, JUST WANNA CLEAR SOME THINGS UP. I’M NOT EVEN FROM VENTURA I LIVE IN WOODLAND HILLS WHICH IS LIKE 25 MINUTES AWAY BUT IM ALWAYS DRIVING TO VENTURA IN THE WINTER TIME TO SURF THE WEDGE AT SOUTH JETTY AND THE RIVERMOUTH OR EMMA WOOD YA KNOW.

I saw in your Option interview that you're pretty into music. Have you seen any good shows lately? Any CD recommendations for the 805 groms?

OH YEAH, I’VE JUST BEEN GETTING INTO A LOT OF TRIPPED OUT INDIE BANDS AND A LOT OF EMO STUFF, I’M WAY INTO: ima robot, the appleseed cast, modest mouse, pop unknown, crumb, elliot, imbroco, bright eyes, yeah yeah yeahs, the dismemberment plan, pinback, deathcab for cutie, if you are smart you will tell your groms about the band called desaparecidos, placebo, my bloody valentine.

Are you in school, working, or just cruising these days?

I JUST GOT A JOB AT BECKERS SURFSHOP SO I’M WAY STOKED ABOUT THAT BUT OTHER THAN THAT I’M JUST CRUISIN’ AROUND WITH MY GIRLFRIEND.

With your skills you should be going on some trips and getting some exposure. Do you have anything lined up this year?

UHHH YEAH, THERE IS A BIG THING LINED UP BUT I SERIOUSLY AM NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS STUPID HAHA BUT WE DONT KNOW IF IT’S GONNA FALL THROUGH.

Do you ever run into Jacob, Eliason, Harnsberger, or any of that older crew? Those guys were ruling it for a while but seemed to drop off the face of the earth.

I SURFED WITH JACOB AT EMMA WOOD A COUPLA TIMES BUT THAT WAS LIKE YEARS AGO AND HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS. HEARD ELIASON MOVED TO SPAIN. DON’T EVEN KNOW WHATS UP WITH HARNSBERGER. BUT YEAH JACOB IS EASILY IN MY OPINION THE BEST CALIFORNIAN AND I THINK ELIASON IS WAAAAAAY BETTER THAN ROACH. IT’S SO FUNNY CAUSE HARNSBERGER, JACOB, AND ELIASON KILLED IT SO HARD BUT THEY LIVED IN A PLACE WHERE THE WAVES WERE SHIT CONSTANTLY I DONT KNOW HOW THEY WERE SO GOOD.

What do you think of some of the internet shit talking that has gone done between Pismo and Ventura guys?

FIRST OF ALL I STAYED AWAY FROM THAT. IT’S RETARDED, WE ARE ALL SUPPOSED TO HAVE FUN YA KNOW, NOT FIGHTING OVER STUPID SHIT.

Do you ever do contests or are you mostly a freesurfer? What's your opinion on the BIA and the new PacCoast tour?

I’M PRETTY MUCH A FREESTYLER. DON’T LIKE CONTESTS AT ALL. THE BIA IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH BUT I DID HEAR THAT THE PAC COAST TOUR IS ACTUALLY LEGIT.

I heard you went to the North Shore last winter. What did you think? Who impressed you the most over there? Do you plan on returning?

YEAH I WENT TO HAWAII, HATED EVERY BIT OF IT, PROLLY WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. BUT THE GUYS THAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST OVER THERE WERE THE AUSSIE GROMS AND KINGY PRETTY MUCH.

Any last words for the 805 kids?
