Topic: Slates surf ranch comp

Set for May 6 and 7 and it's called Founders Cup. Team event format by country and is a test run for Olympics.

Event tickets are available to public soon. Seems like it will be boring as fuck after a few waves.

Re: Slates surf ranch comp

It will be boring if guys play it safe on the thing but if people approach it like Toledo did it should be entertaining. Still will be lame hearing the same broadcaster commentary and same rider commentary "its just perfect.." again and again. But I welcome the wave pools. Wish they could turn them out all over the US. A surf trip where you're assured to score wont remove surf trips but it would be nice to make a trip to the surf ranch and know you can get practice in. At least for the weekend warrior/career riders who don't have the luxury to post up at places for a month and cruise.

Have no idea about why Slater didn't invite yet MS for a ride there.

Slater invited him a while ago. Stewart has been traveling a bunch so they haven't been able to work out a time yet.

Jared Brown is a pussy

Stewy probably waiting for summer so he can get some time in at base and wedge too.

afaik the kelly slater wave company and surf ranch are owned by the world surf league, they aren't falling over themselves to invite people who aren't world tour surfers or connected to pro surfing in some way. maybe they'll do another alternative craft day in the future and let domke skim, poopies water ski and mike stewart can get one wave on a boogie board like that flume guy
